UMOYA

UMOJA YOUTH CENTER

Due to the overcrowding in Bujumbura, it has become almost for children to find a free place where they can to find a free place where they can play safely. Therefore, we are working on our own youth centre for AFH! Stay up to date on the progress of our project.

Why a youth centre?

Football Helps currently rents the entire spatial infrastructure in Bujumbura: football pitches, office, storage and event rooms. However, this creates problems and risks: The football pitch is often rented out to several tenants at the same time during training times, the rentable space around the football pitch is already exhausted and the landlord can arbitrarily terminate the agreement without notice at any time.

Benefits of a youth centre

Well-being

…by creating a safe place where children can play without having to constantly make way for cars or building sites

More closeness

…through increased contact with the children, which enables us to better understand their individual problems

More efficient logistics

…by creating space for storage facilities, a cooking area, washing facilities, as well as a dedicated football pitch for more training sessions

Improved workshops

…through better availability of classrooms and equipment

Funding

…is facilitated by the elimination of rental and equipment costs as well as additional income opportunities through rentals for events and football matches

Optimised workflows

…thanks to better office space and international staff can be better looked after by having their own sleeping facilities

Location of the Youth Centre

The UMOJA Youth Centre will be built in Kabezi, Bujumbura Rural, with good access to and from Bujumbura city. Thanks to 9,500m², the property has enough space for a football pitch and the gradual expansion of the youth centre. The Football Helps project already exists in the region with over 320 children, which creates an excellent starting position.
